The Hindi word ‘Charpai’ means four legged day-bed. Its is simple hand-woven cot with a sturdy wooded frame. Other words of Charpai are Khatiya, Khaat, or Manjhi in different states of India. Charpai is commonly used by villagers and farmers as day-bed under shade of a tree, or even a night-bed.
Sleeping on charpai has a relaxing feel of sleeping on a tight hammock, or a tight memory foam which contours slightly but is made without all that artificial materials. Just fiber weaves.
